Five books to help you find interiors inspiration
The last year and a bit has seen us spending more time at home than ever before. It’s been a double edged sword hasn’t it? I’ve felt a deep gratitude for having somewhere safe and warm to bunker down… but there’s no denying that being in our homes for work/play/exercise/everything can make us start to nit-pick. That wallpaper that used to mildly irritate us has become frankly hateful now we have to look at it 24/7. Now that spring has sprung (well, it did for a few days), lots of us are searching for interiors inspiration.
The internet is now a wealth of the stuff. Who hasn’t fallen down a pinterest rabbit-hole recently and looked up from the phone to realise you’ve missed that whole episode of Corrie? Instagram too provides reams of gorgeous interior snaps and lots of new ideas for styling. But for me personally, looking at those images on a little phone screen just doesn’t cut the mustard. I love nothing more than settling down with a cuppa and a lovely hardback book filled with artistic, cleverly styled interiors inspiration.
If you’re considering an interiors revamp; here are some fabulous books that will leave you with no shortage of ideas. First up; replacing that wallpaper…
No. Not that Shades of Grey book. This one is altogether classier. And if like me you just never get bored of decorating in all the glorious greys, this is the book for you.
The spin-off book from the hit Netflix series; this will have you organised beyond your wildest dreams. If you draw your interior inspiration from colour coordinated bookshelves and nice neat kitchen drawers, this is the book for you.
Those who know me well know that my obsession with houseplants has threatened the stability of my marriage. Mainly because my husband has threatened divorce if I walk through the door with another yukka tree that is larger than my eldest child. If like me, you know that houseplants give a feeling of calm, beauty and freshness; this gem, with it’s tips on creating instant impact through houseplants, is the book for you.
Fans of BBC’s Interior Design Masters will recognise the name of this author. Michelle’s impeccable style on the show has earned her an army of fans. If you’re looking for simple ways to improve not just your home, but your quality of life within it; this is the book for you.
Another one from design guru Watson-Smythe. This was the first book I read about interior design and I fell in love with the lustworthy photography inside. You can also get your hands on the matching Mad About The House planner. Perfect for planning all your projects. If you’re just getting hooked on interiors and looking for an eay-to-read useful resource, this is the book for you.
