Important Things To Do Before Your Baby Arrives
Having a baby is one of the best feelings in the world, and preparing for the arrival of your little one takes a lot of work. From buying all of the cute outfits to decorating their first bedroom – there are plenty of things to prepare in time for your baby’s arrival and today we want to talk about some of them.
These are just a few of the things you need to do and prepare for your child’s arrival into your home this year.
- Clean out clutter
One of the most important things to consider doing before you have a baby is how much clutter you have around the house. It can be all too easy over the years to hoard items and knick knacks, but once a baby is on the way you will need to make some space for the influx of toys, clothes, tools, and equipment needed. Spend some time over the weeknd going through various parts of your house such as the wardrobes, DVD cases, and book case and get rid of anything you don’t want as well as anything you will no longer use. This will free up plenty of space for your little one when they arrive.
- Gather the essentials
When you are about to welcome a child into the world you can never be 100% sure when the magical day will arrive. Some children will come early, some on time, and some like to make us wait for their arrival. In the meantime though, you can gather the baby essentials you need for their room as well as for day to day life. This will be anything from a changing table and nappies to their coats and some cloths for burping. Consider finding a list of essentials online and try to tick all of these items off the list before you are 6-7 months gone to give you some peace of mind.
- Decorate the nursery
By far the most fun part of preparing for a child is picking out your baby furniture from Cuckooland and the colour of the room. Choosing the colour and style of your nursery is a fun task and it might take you a little while to settle on a design. Once you have an diea or a theme, get everything painted, make sure the carpet is super soft, and be sure that there are lots of lovely paintings on the walls. The more colour and texture you can bring into a baby’s bedroom the better because it will help stimulate them both emotionally and cognitively.
- Arrange maternity leave
If you work for a regular company, one of the first things you need to do when you find out that you are expecting is book your maternity leave and find out how much time you are entitled to. This will simply allow you to plan for your time with your child and will allow father to book his paternity leave in line with you. If you work for yourself, the situation will be a little different so make sure you save up and budget for some time off.
